Hello Robotics World! So much going on - so much to share.
We've just updated our website with some fresh new content - from welcoming our new associate Brannon to the team to adding two new companies to our portfolio - dolaGon and SJW Robotics.
Welcome Brannon - so glad to have you here!
We met a number of amazing candidates while we were looking for associates - and I'm eager to work with many of them in various capacities moving forward. I'm especially eager to work with Brannon now as he ramps up at AlleyCorp Robotics while he finishes his Harvard MBA this spring.
Brannon brings deep engineering and operations experience to AlleyCorp Robotics - prior to joining he was a Lead Manufacturing, Automation, and Integration Engineer for SpaceX in Los Angeles. He worked on the propulsive systems for the reusable launch vehicle and for Starship’s Raptor concept engine. He was responsible for leading a team through conceptualizing, acquiring, and commissioning a multi-million-dollar robotic factory with industry leading production capabilities.
Brannon also co-founded BlackX, SpaceX’s African American employee affinity group. He took an active role in planning and hosting events and successfully mentored and upskilled Black employees who were looking to get engineering roles.
Brannon was born in California, but has more recently called Denver Colorado home. He studied mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University and built an air hockey playing robot for his thesis research. While at Princeton he played Division-1 football and was a team captain and two-time Ivy League champion. He will be graduating from Harvard Business School with his MBA in May 2023, and joining AlleyCorp Robotics full time in July.
You can see more about Brannon on our team page.
Welcome dolaGon and SJW. Robotics - we're excited!
We had the pleasure of meeting Seth Neubardt of dolaGon as he was going through the TechStars program in 2022. We were immediately excited about the world they were dreaming into reality - where off-road utility vehicles can navigate complex terrain autonomously, with new user-generated-routes driven and managed by their owners and operators - whether in the domain of backcountry skiing, wind or solar farms, agriculture, and more. We can't wait until we can toss our split-boards in the back of a snow cat, drive somewhere beautiful, and snowboard down - confident our ride will be waiting for us at the bottom.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Nipun Sharma of SJW Robotics very early in our AlleyCorp Robotics journey - before the fund existed in fact! We've been following their progress as they completed the first RoWok and spun up its first operations. As with our earlier and complementary investment in Dexai, we are believers in the need for, and importance of, automation in the whole food chain - from agriculture to transport to preparation and delivery. Expect more from us in this space!
